Training Is Sacred

Last modified 2 weeks, 4 days ago.

“Training is sacred to me.”

That’s what I thought tonight.

But what was this word that I was using so assuredly?

Sacred.

I found several definitions tied to religion. I thought, ‘Well, that’s not right. I don’t hold it at the status of religion.’

Then I saw one more…

It said, “Unassailable, inviolable. Highly valued and important.”

‘Yes, that’s it! Yes, inviolable. Highly valued and important. That’s the one,’ I thought.

That’s what training has always meant to me.

It has been sacred.

I could not violate that for any job, anyone, or anything.

This standard has cost me money.

It has often cost me chances to connect to others, because I am usually isolated when I am training. Or, I would pick the times when the gym was empty to train.

But it has not cost me any soul, which is defined as one’s spiritual or moral force.

That’s been my choice, because, for me, training is sacred.
